U.S. Mint 2026 Semiquincentennial Coin Production Explodes

U.S. Mint production topped 1 billion coins in April for the first time since August 2023. The expanding 1776 ~ 2026 Semiquincentennial rollout lifted the month’s output to more than twice the combined total from January through March. The milestone is especially striking because it came without cents, which often accounted for more than half of production in past billion-coin months.

In April, the U.S. Mint reported more than 1.16 billion coins in circulating-quality production, led by nickels, dimes, quarters and half dollars — all carrying Semiquincentennial dating, and all but the nickel featuring related one-year-only designs. The month also brought the first reported output for the 250th anniversary-themed U.S. Constitution and Gettysburg Address quarters.
